The NAACP Education committee aims to achieve several goals within the local community. These goals include promoting equal access to quality education for all students, advocating for equitable educational opportunities, and addressing systemic barriers that hinder educational success. The committee also strives to eliminate racial disparities in educational outcomes and ensure that all students have access to culturally relevant and inclusive curriculum. Additionally, the NAACP Education committee works towards empowering parents and community members to actively participate in educational decision-making processes and advocates for policies that promote educational equity and social justice.

VIRTUAL READERS FINAL VERSION.jpg

We actively support education legislation and local policy that aligns with the mission and vision of the NAACP. We believe in supporting K-12 public education legislation that prioritizes the creation of safe, inclusive learning environments for all students. It is crucial to focus on promoting racial and educational equity and equality, ensuring that every student, regardless of their race, ethnicity, ability, sex, gender, or socio-economic status, has access to the same opportunities and resources.

By advocating for legislation that promotes equity in education, we can work towards eliminating the achievement gap and providing every student with the tools and support they need to succeed academically and personally. This includes addressing disparities in access to quality education, resources, and opportunities, and implementing policies that prioritize the needs and well-being of historically marginalized students.

Additionally, supporting legislation that promotes the health and welfare of all students is essential. This includes initiatives that prioritize mental health support, physical well-being, and overall student wellness. By prioritizing the health and welfare of students, we can create an environment that nurtures their growth, development, and academic success.

In summary, we firmly support advocating for K-12 public education legislation that promotes safe, inclusive learning environments, focuses on racial and educational equity and equality, and prioritizes the health and welfare of all students. By doing so, we can work towards creating a more just and equitable education system that benefits every student.

The committee is prepared to respond to any legislation that falls within the purview of the Education Committee and the committee deems appropriate to support or oppose.
